THE STORY
2: 1957 Indian Trailblazer 700
This 1957 Indian Trailblazer 700 is a badge-engineered Royal Enfield Meteor 700 that was refurbished under previous ownership. Powered by a 692cc OHV parallel twin paired with a four-speed transmission, the bike is finished in blue with chrome accents and features valanced fenders, an engine guard, a steering damper, a contoured two-up seat, a rear grab rail, an Amal Monobloc carburetor, and a low-mounted dual exhaust system with Burgess-style mufflers. This Trailblazer was acquired by the seller in January 2024 and is now offered at no reserve with a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The Trailblazer 700 came about as a result of Indian’s 1953 bankruptcy and the subsequent acquisition of the company trademark by Corgi scooter manufacturer Brockhouse Engineering of West Bromwich, England. The company focused on selling rebadged Royal Enfield motorcycles—including the Meteor 700—through Indian’s existing distribution network in the US. The bodywork on this example has been refinished in Blue with chrome side panels and headdress badges, and the stepped two-up seat features a chrome rear grab rail. Additional equipment includes a 4.8-gallon fuel tank, a chrome engine guard, valanced fenders, a front-fender chrome headdress mascot, folding passenger foot pegs, and a side stand.
Wire-spoke wheels measuring 19″ up front and 18″ at the rear are mounted with Dunlop Gold Seal K70 tires. Suspension is handled by a conventional telescopic fork with black covers as well as a pair of shrouded shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is provided by drums at both ends.
A chrome handlebar equipped with cushioned barrel-style grips and dual mirrors fronts the chrome adjustment knob for a friction-plate damper in the steering stem. The top triple clamp features cable routing holes as well as an integrated mount for the 120-mph Indian-branded speedometer. Additional instrumentation consists of a Lucas ammeter recessed atop the black-painted headlight bucket. The five-digit odometer shows 8,500 miles, a handful of which were ridden by the seller.
The 692cc OHV parallel twin is equipped with an Amal monobloc carburetor, a one-into-two intake manifold, a kick starter, and a chrome dual exhaust system with downswept headpipes flowing into a pair of low-mounted Burgess-style mufflers.
The bike is equipped with an Albion four-speed gearbox with right-side shifting and a separate one-push neutral gear selection lever as well as a drive chain.
The seller cannot locate a serial number on the bike.
