This 1962 Harley-Davidson Duo-Glide underwent a refurbishment that was completed in 2022 and was acquired by the selling dealer in September 2022. The bike has been refinished in black with white accents over a black powder-coated frame and is powered by a rebuilt 74ci Panhead V-twin mated to a four-speed transmission. Equipment includes a Hydra-Glide fork, a hydraulic rear brake, passing lamps, front and rear guards, a skirted solo saddle, 16″ chrome wheels with stainless-steel spokes, and chrome fishtail mufflers. This FL Panhead is now offered by the selling dealer in Massachusetts with a spare Buddy Seat and a clean Michigan title.
The bodywork is said to have been media-blasted and refinished in black with white accents while the frame was powder-coated black. Features include a 3.75-gallon fuel tank with dual fillers and star badging as well as a reproduction front fender. Additional equipment includes a chrome-finished cast aluminum headlight nacelle, passing lamps, turn signals, valanced fenders, chrome fender tips, front and rear chrome guards, a chrome triangular toolbox, a silver powder-coated side stand, and a black skirted saddle embellished with chrome spears and studs. The Buddy Seat spring assembly can be connected to the back of the solo saddle for additional support or used with the included Buddy Seat.
Chrome 16″ rims laced with stainless-steel spokes to rebuilt hubs are wrapped in Shinko 240 Classic whitewall tires. Suspension is provided by a rebuilt Hydra-Glide fork with replacement tubes and seals as well as a black powder-coated swingarm and dual shocks with re-chromed shrouds, reproduction chrome caps, and replacement rubber mounts. Stopping power is supplied by drum brakes at both ends, the rear of which is operated hydraulically. The brake cylinders and the front brake crossover sheath have been replaced.
The chrome three-light dash panel is equipped with a replacement wiring harness and houses a 120-mph speedometer with a five-digit odometer showing 28k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 74ci Panhead OHV V-twin was rated at 55 horsepower when new and features a re-chromed dual exhaust system with replacement fishtail mufflers. A rebuild of the engine during the refurbishment included boring the cylinders, grinding the cylinder heads, lapping the valves, and replacing the pistons and rings. The carburetor and generator were rebuilt, and the primary and clutch inner and outer covers were replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through an enclosed double-row primary chain, a four-speed transmission, and a replacement drive chain with a replacement chrome guard.
A spare Buddy seat reupholstered in quilted black vinyl with white sides, black piping, and a chrome handrail is included in the sale.
The bike is titled using the number 62FL4428 stamped on the left engine case.
